My Introduction to Sports Media Experience

I was lucky enough to be part of a class of about 30 students that took Intro to Sports Media in spring 2015. The class was taught by Dr. Welch Suggs and the AJC’s D. Orlando Ledbetter and took a hands-on approach to covering several different sports. It was a sink-or-swim class just as the real world of sports is.

Relationships between Georgia softball seniors and freshmen prove helpful in postseason play

Six freshmen softball players entered February prepared for their first season at Georgia. Meanwhile, four seniors were gearing up for their last go-around.

Although the differences between the class of newbies and the class of veterans are plentiful, these 10 athletes are poised to join the other nine players on the Bulldogs’ roster to make 2015 a special season.

Minor League player for a day: UGA junior wins Topps’ “Make Your Pro Debut” contest

Topps Company’s next Minor League Baseball card package will have a card featuring a Georgia Bulldog. The player, however, is nowhere to be found on the Bulldogs’ baseball roster.

Tyler Badger, a junior public relations major from Hoschton, Georgia, won Topps’ “Make Your Pro Debut” contest. The promotion provided Badger a unique experience with the Corpus Christi Hooks, the Double-A affiliate of the Houston Astros.

Oddly-inspired nicknames bring about camaraderie and confidence on Georgia softball team

Newt is the leader of the pack. Red is more of a night owl rather than an early bird. And Moose likes to be the mother hen who watches out for her friends.

No, this isn’t a sneak peak at the cast of characters in Disney’s new animated film; it’s a glimpse at the nicknames that are proudly worn by some of the Georgia Bulldogs’ softball players.
